Kevin Dang Obituary - Drowning Seattle, Washington

Seattle, WA – Heartbreak has gripped the communities of Seattle and Central Washington University following the tragic death of Kevin Dang, who lost his life in a drowning accident at Eagle Falls over the weekend. Kevin, a bright, driven student from Seattle and a beloved member of the CWU community, passed away far too soon while enjoying the outdoors with friends near the popular natural site in Snohomish County.

The accident occurred when Kevin and several companions visited Eagle Falls, a scenic yet often hazardous swimming and cliff-jumping destination along the South Fork Skykomish River. According to officials with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Kevin had entered the water and was swept under by the powerful current. Witnesses report that despite immediate attempts to rescue him, he disappeared beneath the surface and did not resurface.

Search and rescue crews, including swift water divers, were dispatched to the scene and recovered his body several hours later. Emergency responders pronounced him deceased at the scene. Authorities have ruled the incident a tragic accident and issued renewed warnings about the dangers of swimming at Eagle Falls, particularly during the early summer months when the river’s currents remain strong due to snowmelt.

Originally from Seattle, Kevin Dang was a proud graduate of the Seattle public school system and a current freshman at Central Washington University, where he was pursuing a degree in Computer Science. Professors and peers alike remember him as an exceptionally kind, curious, and hardworking student who brought enthusiasm and warmth into every room he entered.

Family and friends describe Kevin as a devoted son, a loyal friend, and someone who cherished his Vietnamese heritage. Outside of school, he enjoyed gaming, hiking, photography, and spending time with loved ones. He was known for his quick wit, gentle spirit, and the respect he showed to everyone around him.

News of his sudden passing has led to an outpouring of grief across social media and within the university community. CWU released a statement offering condolences and announcing that counseling services are being made available to students impacted by the tragedy.

Kevin Dang is survived by his parents, younger sister, extended family, and a wide circle of friends and classmates who will never forget his warmth, intelligence, and kindness.

As the community mourns, Kevin’s life stands as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.
