Wyandanch, NY — A man killed in a hit-and-run crash in Suffolk County on Friday night has been identified by family as the cousin of well-known Teaneck-based tech blogger and entrepreneur, Hillel Fuld.
According to Suffolk County Police, the incident occurred around 7:29 p.m. on June 13, when a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Wyandanch Avenue, just west of Mount Avenue. The driver did not stop and continued driving toward Mount Avenue, fleeing the scene.
The victim, whose identity was initially withheld pending family notification, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead. Detectives from the department’s Major Case Unit are continuing to investigate and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Hillel Fuld confirmed that the victim was his cousin, who shared the same name—Hillel Fuld. The Teaneck blogger wrote an emotional tribute, clarifying that he himself was not involved in the crash after receiving a flood of messages from concerned followers.
“We had a family tragedy. I woke up to devastating news that my cousin was tragically hit by a car and killed,” Fuld wrote. “I don’t know anything else… all I know is that it was a hit n run in Long Island. A terrible, terrible tragedy. I am still in shock as is the whole family.”
He also posted a photo of his cousin alongside other family members, expressing his heartbreak and asking for prayers.
“BDE Hillel Fuld. We will all miss you. Simply no words.”
Authorities have not released additional details about the vehicle involved. The Suffolk County Police Department is asking anyone with tips or surveillance footage from the area to contact the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
As the investigation continues, the family—and the broader Jewish and tech communities that knew the Fuld family—are left mourning a life cut short by senseless violence on the road.
