APALACHICOLA, FL — The community of Apalachicola is mourning the tragic loss of Christopher Plattenburg, who was killed in a devastating car accident on Friday night. The heartbreaking news has left family and friends in deep shock as they grapple with the sudden and profound loss of a man remembered for his love, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Christopher, known affectionately as Chris, was described by loved ones as full of life, always smiling, and deeply committed to those around him. He was a proud husband, a dedicated father to three young children, and a beloved brother and son. Tributes have poured in across social media, with those closest to him recalling his warmth, his hard work, and the immense pride he took in his family.
“I don’t want to make this post, but we could majorly use your prayers,” wrote his sister in a heartfelt Facebook message. “My precious brother died in a bad car accident Friday night. We are assuming instantly. We are all in shock and in disbelief!”
Though his loss is devastating, the family is leaning into their faith for comfort and strength.
“Chris is leaving behind so many people who loved him immensely and are hurting,” she continued, “but we are trying to rest knowing he is well and safe in Jesus’ arms. I want to think that Grandmommy was also waiting for him!”

“As his big sister, I cannot express how proud I was of him. He worked so hard for his precious family! To see his love for his wife and three children also made me ooze with pride! Man, he loved hard!”
